Aperto Networks and D-Link Taiwan Enter into Strategic Alliance
D-Link Taiwan to Sell Aperto’s WiMAX Gear in Taiwan
SINGAPORE (CommunicAsia), (June 20, 2006) – Aperto Networks, developer of the world’s most advanced WiMAX base stations and subscriber units, today announced at CommunicAsia a strategic alliance with D-Link Taiwan Information, Inc., a global leader in connectivity for small, medium and large enterprise business networking, to sell Aperto Networks’ PacketMAX™ solutions in the Taiwanese market.
The two companies intend to aggressively promote the robustness of Aperto’s WiMAX Forum Certified™ WiMAX gear in addressing the broadband wireless access (BWA) initiatives stemming from M-Taiwan, Taiwan’s extensive mobile internet and mobile services infrastructure development project.
“Aperto’s best-of-breed, carrier-grade WiMAX products will be a tremendous addition to D-Link’s existing wireless products portfolio,” said Amy Wei, president, Taiwan Business Development, for D-Link. “We look forward to being a leading contender for future 3.5 GHz WiMAX projects under the M-Taiwan initiative.”
Unveiled by Premier Shyi-Ku Yu in early May 2002, M-Taiwan is a derivative of e-Taiwan, a six-year national development plan designed to transform Taiwan into a “green silicon island” and to enable Taiwan to boast the most widespread internet services in Asia.
“We are excited to be partnered with D-Link in bringing the industry’s leading WiMAX platform to Taiwan,” said Bill Waters, SVP Worldwide Sales at Aperto Networks. “The economics of WiMAX are perfectly suited to help Taiwan achieve its goal of improving the availability and deployment of broadband and wireless infrastructures across the country.”
Aperto’s PacketMAX system gives network operators the multi-services infrastructure they need to take full advantage of the business opportunities offered by broadband wireless. Using a single, standards-based platform, the PacketMAX system enables operators to service a wide range of subscribers – ranging from large enterprises and public-sector organizations, to multi-tenet buildings and residences.
